Welcome to ePublisher AutoMap!

ePublisher AutoMap is a powerful application for converting and scheduling automatic conversion of Adobe FrameMaker or Microsoft Word documents to a variety of online formats. Using ePublisher AutoMap, you can convert your Adobe FrameMaker or Microsoft Word documents to HTML, XHTML, and XML, as well as two leading eBook formats (Microsoft Reader and Palm Reader) and many others, the five most popular online Help formats: Microsoft HTML Help, Microsoft WinHelp, WebWorks Help, Sun JavaHelp (versions 1.x and 2.x), and Oracle Help, and PDF for printing.

ePublisher AutoMap contains all of the conversion functionality of ePublisher Express and adds automatic pre and post-processing functionality to complete production processes.

To become a productive ePublisher AutoMap user, you do not need to invest much time in learning and understanding how the software works. ePublisher AutoMap is easy to use. What is in this documentation?

This documentation is intended for all users, regardless of their skill levels. It explains how to install the software and perform common tasks, such as creating jobs, working with jobs, setting preferences, and using the command line. See the Table of Contents for the chapters and information contained in this documentation.

What is new in this release?

ePublisher AutoMap contains all the features of previous versions and introduces a wide range of new features to help streamline the process of converting your Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, and DITA content to a variety of online output formats. The following is a brief summary of the new features in this release.

Compatibility with latest release of ePublisher Express and Pro

ePublisher AutoMap uses the most recent conversion engine and is compatible with the latest release of ePublisher Express and Pro.

Ability to combine DITA, FrameMaker, and Word files in a single job

As with ePublisher Express, and Pro, ePublisher AutoMap can now schedule jobs that include FrameMaker, Word, and DITA content files.

The above feature requires license keys for each type of content to be processed; one or more of either type of adapter (i.e Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, XML).

Highlights items you can select in the ePublisher AutoMap interface, including buttons and menus. Also used to emphasis key words.

Italic

Highlights book titles, variables, and terms that are defined in the glossary.

The arrow indicates a menu choice. For example, “choose FileOpen” means “click the File menu, and then click Open.”

The plus sign indicates that you must hold down multiple keys simultaneously. For example, “Ctrl + Alt + N” means you must hold down the “Ctrl” “Alt” and “N” keys on your keyboard at the same time.

AutoMap Notes

Make sure to keep all versions of ePublisher Express, Pro at the same release as ePublisher AutoMap in order to maintain compatibility between all the components. This update maintains compatibility with the ePublisher Express content transformation engine and incorporates new features including:

Support for the ePublisher Express project format

Existing ePublisher AutoMap jobs do NOT have to be re-created. However, you may need to update your stationery or project in order to obtain all the available functionality updates.
