Managing Projects
ePublisher Pro is used to define the look and feel as well as the behavior of your online content, this is the start of defining a powerful single-sourcing environment. ePublisher allows you to define behaviors of online content within a single environment; this means you create your source content using an applications like Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker or an authoring environment that supports DITA authoring, like Adobe FrameMaker, XMetal or other XML authoring software. When using ePublisher Pro your goal is to create a ePublisher Stationery that will be utilized in all components of the ePublisher Platform to generate and deliver you online content.
After the source documents have been created, they can be added to a ePublisher Pro project to help in the definition and behavior of your online output.
When you create a new project, you are creating a .wep file that will contain references to source documents, online style look and feel, behaviors, and project customizations. After you have created a project, you will have the ability to easily define style behaviors, online deliverable formats, and many other online specific functionality. This information will then be saved as an ePublisher Stationery which will be deployed and used by ePublisher Express or AutoMap.
From a single project, you can produce multiple types of output, which means you can create WebWorks Help, Microsoft HTML Help, Oracle Help, Dynamic HTML, Sun JavaHelp, etc. without having to create a new project. You can reuse the source documents, project customizations, and project settings to produce multiple types of output without having to create a new project. By allowing you to create online output without modifying your source documents, the ePublisher platform provides you with a powerful single-sourcing tool.
